Southern Kurdistan Patriotic Youth’s Movement and Revolutionary Women’s Movement are staging a march from from Sulaymaniyah to Semelka in solidarity with the resistance against Turkish invasion in Afrin.

Gathering on Seholeke Avenue of Sulaymaniyah before the march, young people chanted “Dictator Erdogan” and “Murdered Erdogan”, holding images of Kurdish People’s Leader Abdullah Öcalan and flags of PKK (Kurdistan Workers’ Party) and YPG/YPJ (People’s/Women’s Defense Units).

In a statement to the press before the beginning of the march, Hawrê Ferîdûn said the following; “Youth of Bashurê (Southern) Kurdistan should take their place in the resistance against the attacks targeting Afrin. We mustn’t allow the Turkish state to invade the lands of Kurdistan. Let’s be a part of the resistance in Afrin.”

Following the speech, demonstrators started their march behind a banner that read “Seri Hilde (Rise up) for Afrin with the spirit of Kobanê”.

The young men and women are planning to finish their march to Semelka border crossing in seven days.
